          Protecting
your photographs before and after the storm.

Being prepared is the best thing you can do before hurricane season
              begins.

              - Have your
family photo collection scanned to a CD/DVD.

              - If you have
not had this done, place your photos in ziplock plastic bags.

              - Place photos
in a rubbermaid or tupperware box and place the container up high
                in case of flooding.

              - If you have
to evacuate, take them with you. If you do not have room for them
(in your car) when you evacuate, put them in a ziplock bag and
store in your dishwasher and lock it. It's the only place in your
home that is waterproof. This is a tip from a friend in New Orleans.
                Thanks Mary. :-)

              - Should your
framed photos become water damaged, leave them in the frames.
Taking them out may damage the photo if it has stuck to the glass.

              - Do not scan
a wet, moldy picture, it will damage the scanner.
